Article Summaries/Review
Articles are due at the beginning of the
lab. Each article should be a recent 2017 publication
from any news source, online or otherwise.
(Example: googlenews, cnn.com, the Pantagraph, etc) Please print out the article and include it
with your summary. This
is not a journal review. Look for
current releases in the news. The length
of the published article itself is not important; it needs to be long enough
for you to generate a summary of a decent length.
Your work should be a review of the article in your own words. You may include how it relates to biology or how it relates to class in general. If you can find articles that relate to current Anatomy and Physiology topics, that's great. Otherwise, try to look for health/medical related news topics.
Please type or computer process your article summary. The length of the paper should be two full pages You may double space. Submit it with the printed article for full credit. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
The due dates for the article summaries can
be located on the class calendar web page and often times in ReggieNet.
A note on plagiarism: The TAs that will be grading your summaries
are instructed to look for content directly from the original article. Using “according to…” and then using the same
sentence and info from the article is still considered plagiarism. Be sure that all of your work has been paraphrased. Take the information from the article and put it into your own words. Any paper submitted that is too similar to the original
article will receive zero points.
A note on the word “summary”:
Although this assignment is referred to as a “summary” you’ll find that
you are not being asked to shorten the work of the original publishing
author. You are asked to explain the
content of the article, and then discuss aspects of it as to how it may pertain
to Anatomy and Physiology.
