Tree of Life
"Public outreach is one of many career options available to students majoring in Biological Sciences. We constructed the Organismal Biology and Public Outreach sequence because many of our graduates had successfully pursued careers in public outreach, teaching science to students of all ages, and they expressed great job satisfaction. By combining biological expertise with practical experience, our graduates will be better prepared and more competitive for such careers. This sequence is a unique opportunity for Illinois State University students looking for educational careers at arboreta, botanical gardens, museums, nature centers, parks, and zoos."
"The practical experience comes from working as educational interns with various organizations that present science to the general public. To do this we take advantage of a wealth of opportunities available in central Illinois area. As an alternative some students arrange summer internships located near their homes or in other places around the country. Students earn credit for the intern experience by enrolling in Professional Practice, BSC 299."
"If you have more questions or wish to discuss public outreach internships and/or enroll in Professional Practice, please contact me."
