Making a General Support Gift

You can help the School of Biological Sciences fulfill its mission of educating future generations of students about the importance of and gratification in studying biology, while remaining committed to the highest standards of academic excellence.

Fund

  • Alumni Seminar Series in Genetics

    This endowment was established in 1998 by a group of former students of Herman E. Brockman in honor of his retirement. The fund is used to support the alumni seminar series in genetics in the School of Biological Sciences. If additional dollars are available the fund may be used to finance awards to graduate and exceptional undergraduate student(s) in biology for their attendance at national or international scientific meetings in the field of genetics. Assets of this endowment are invested in the Illinois State University Endowment Investment Pool.

  • Biology Botanical Gardens

    Supports the School's botanical teaching and research collections

  • Roger C. and Rebecca Anderson Natural History Endowment

    The funds support a speaker to present to the public and university communities in the field of restoration and management of natural ecosystems

  • R. Omar and Evelyn Rilett Family Life Sciences Lecture Series

    Brings outstanding life scientists to deliver lectures for the academic and local communites.

Making a Scholarship, Fellowship, and Award Gift

  • Barbara Bathe Award

    Provides scholarships to undergraduates in the biology teacher-education program.

  • Dr. Robert H. Gray Biology/Ecology Scholarship

    Supports graduate students studying in the areas of ecology and evolutionary biology.

  • Dr. David W. Borst, Jr., Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund

    Annual scholarship awarded in memory of Dr. David W. Borst, Jr., to an undergraduate student conducting research in biology.

  • Edward L. Mockford and Charles F. Thompson Summer Fellowships

    Provides summer fellowships to M.S. and Ph.D. students in support of their thesis or dissertation research.

  • Drs. H. Tak Cheung/Joni St. John Endowment for General Education Teaching Assistant Awards

    Award to acknowledge the contributions of teaching assistants in BSC 101.

  • Bohn Nielsen Healthcare Pre-Professional Scholarship

    Supports juniors or seniors in the Healthcare Pre-professional Program.

  • H. Tak Cheung, Lauren Brown, Phi Sigma Student Publication Award

    Award to acknowledge the contributions of students publishing in the scientific literature.

  • Omar Rilett Student Awards

    Scholarships awarded in honor of Dr. R. Omar Rilett, Jr., to undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Dr. John B. Colwell Scholarship

    Provides recognition and reward to outstanding pre-medicine students.

  • Charlena Wallen Memorial Scholarship

    Annual scholarship awarded in memory of Charlena Wallen to a student conducting research in Felmley Hall.

  • Carl and Maurice Cook Endowment

    Provides scholarships for undergraduate students majoring in biology.

  • Jack Ward Fund

    Honors students for the service contributions to the School.

  • Dr. Fred Gletten Memorial Scholarship

    Supports students who intend to pursue a career in medicine or medical research.

  • Robert D. Weigel Fund

    Provides research grants to undergraduate and graduate students in support of their research.
