Requirements for the Major
Biology has 3 undergraduate program options for a Bachelor of Science: Biological Sciences, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Biological Sciences Teacher Education. Required courses for the Biological Sciences programs must be taken for a letter grade. Courses taken as pass/fail or for credit/no credit will not count toward the major. Biology requires 37-40 department hours depending on program. All program options require BSC 196, 197, and 204. In addition, courses outside Biology are required in Math, Chemistry, and Physics.
Students choosing the Biological Sciences program option have five different sequence options. These sequences include General Biology, Conservation Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience and Behavior, Plant Biology, and Zoology.
Please consult the Undergraduate Catalog for a complete list of academic requirements for Biological Sciences programs. Students should also use the Major Checklist (see below) to keep track of their progress toward completing the program in Biology.
Honors in Biological Sciences
