Overview
In the School of Biological Sciences, we emphasize an integrative collaborative approach to research. Our General Biological Sciences sequence within the Ph.D. degree program in Biological Sciences allows students flexibility to integrate coursework across diverse fields in the biological sciences. Applications in biology are becoming increasing integrative across traditional disciplines, and this general sequence is designed for students to tailor their own interdisciplinary background through their coursework selection.
Students working toward the Ph.D. degree in General Biological Sciences may pursue their dissertation research in most of the major sub-disciplines. Our students produce internationally recognized research, publishing in peer reviewed journals, and presenting at national and international meetings.
Other more specific sequences in our Ph.D. program allow students the opportunity for more targeted study in: Behavior, Ecology, Evolution & Systematics (BEES); Molecular and Cellular Biology, Neuroscience and Physiology.
