Overview
Our General Biological Sciences sequence within the M.S. degree program in Biological Sciences allows students flexibility to integrate coursework across diverse fields in the biological sciences. Applications in biology are becoming increasingly integrative across traditional disciplines, and this general sequence is designed for students to tailor their own interdisciplinary background through their coursework selection.
Research is emphasized in this thesis-based M.S. degree program, with student working with a faculty advisor on research contributing towards their thesis throughout their time in the program. All master's degree students are required to complete a research thesis and 30 semester hours, which must include at least 2 semester hours of graduate seminars. Other, more specific sequences in our M.S. program, allow students the opportunity for more targeted study in: Behavior, Ecology, Evolution, and Systematics (BEES); Bioenergy Sciences; Biomathematics; Biotechnology; Conservation Biology; Neuroscience and Physiology.
