We begin along the beautiful coast of northern California and southern Oregon. Parts are still heavily forested ( and protected as state and National parks). The forest along this coastline is among the most commercially productive in the world. Virtually all of the trees are different species of conifers (cone-bearing trees) valuable for their timber. These trees grow extremely fast in the mild and relatively damp climate along this coast.
