Advising

Advising is the most valuable resource for information to assist students in meeting their educational goals. In the School of Biological Sciences, academic advising is based on a system of shared responsibility between the student and advisor.

Advising for the Major

For your first year, you will meet with an advisor in the University College Academic Advisement Center . If you are a sophomore or above, the School of Biological Sciences has special advisors who can help you! It's important to meet regularly with your assigned advisor to make sure you are on track. All Biological Sciences,Molecular and Cellular Biology majors/minors, and Biology Teacher Education majors meet with Amanda Martin, unless you are a pre-health professions student in which case you will meet with Jeff Helms.

Advising for pre-health professions pathways

Biology and MCB majors seeking post-baccalaureate healthcare professional programs as acareer goalwill meet with Jeff Helms- Pre-Health Professions Advisor, for their academic and pre-health professions pathway advising. Pre-health professional requirements can differ or be in addition to Biology/MCB program requirements.
