Advising

Advising is the most valuable resource for information to assist students in meeting their educational goals. In the School of Biological Sciences, academic advising is based on a system of shared responsibility between the student and advisor.

Advising for the Major

For your first year, you will meet with an advisor in the University College Academic Advisement Center . If you are a sophomore or above, the School of Biological Sciences has special advisors who can help you! It's important to meet regularly with your assigned advisor to make sure you are on track. All Biological Sciences, Molecular and Cellular Biology majors/minors meet with Jack McKermitt.
If you are a pre-health professions or Biology Teacher Education you will meet with Amanda Martin.

Advising for pre-health professions pathways

Biology and MCB majors seeking post-baccalaureate healthcare professional programs as a career goal will meet with Amanda Martin, Pre-Health Professions Advisor, for their academic and pre-health professions pathway advising. Pre-health professional requirements can differ or be in addition to Biology/MCB program requirements.
